Abstract

Until recently, innominate vein thrombosis secon-dary to hemodialysis catheterization complicated to arteriovenous fistula was rarely encountered, We hereby report a case of left innominate vein throm-bosis as a complication occurred during
mainte-nance
hemodialysis managed by following angio-plasty and stent application.
A 66-year-old woman with end stage renal dis-ease presented with 10 days' history of edematous and painful left arm occurring during the mainte-nance hemodialysis. Within 5 years since the initia-tion of hemodialysis ,she had undergone a total of
3
insertions of the double-lumen catheter on left subclavian vein. Her left arm became edema-tous and bluish discolorized with varicose dilatation of the superficial veins, The selective left bronchial arteriogram revealed obstruction of the left
innomi-nate vein about 3cm in length. Angioplasty with balloon cathcter was performed but angiogram fol-lowed by angioplasty showed partial recanalization of the previous obstruction site with multiple collat-eral veins. Introduction of the
intravascular stent was done and poststenting angiogram revealed good patency of innominate vein and disappear-ance of the collateral veins.
